emyrldlady: (green potions)

I look deep into your eyes trying to gleam into your soul

I don’t know how to love you like you deserve

You’re a puzzle I don’t think I’ll ever solve

I avert my eyes from self reflection

And turn from the mirror alone

What hangs in my closet )
emyrldlady: (Crying Girl)

I find no peace in trees; or soft breezes on my face

For nature is all but a fleeting hope

I find no peace in evening slumber

For troubles run too deep

I find no peace in sand or surf

For the ocean pulls me in

I find no peace in a child’s eyes

For there is just one peace

it happens when you die

I have interesting well read friends, so please tell me….

What is your favorite poem?

The Game

I want to savor your hunger
Feel the blaze of your fire

Tell me you love me
I’ll brand you a liar

Exploit the restless passion in me
Roam my body complete

Tempt me with the unknown
Let me share in your heat

Captivate me and twist me
Hold me hostage in your eyes

Your honeyed words of nothing
Deride me with your lies

Walk me down the path of destruction
I’ll obey you to the end

I’ve prayed to the gods
A dark angel to me send

Take what I’m offering you
Cage me to your bower

Devastate my mind and soul
Ravage me hour by hour

Show me your merciful spirit
Make me a pledge you can’t keep

Bring me to the ledge
Don’t push me let me leap

Share my form in your depravity
Cultivate me in your wickedness

Seize my ecstasy and claim it for your own
Glorify my carnal needs exploit my bliss

All I want is eternity
Your hands upon my skin

This is a game
That I can never win

There is a me that no one sees

And even I do not know her name

I entreat her to tell me her story

But she is silent all the same

Overwhelmed by passions deep

She staves off the rising tide

Fabricating walls of concrete heart

A hollow in which to hide

Over eons mortar crumbles

And reveals her haunted eyes

Wounds inflicted from bygone words

Sweet and honeyed lies

Restlessness has caused her to stir

Seeking answers from my soul

An aching heart still bleeds for her

For broken promises and deeds untold

If ever there is to be a time

When she and I are one

Then forgiveness sought and given

Must freely yet be done

The Picture

The Picture,

There's a picture in my mind of how life ought to be
It's out of focus, to the left and kind of hard to see

It used to be all brilliant colors, sharp and clear
but has faded, as life goes on, subtlety over the years

with youth came joi de vive and naiveté
certain you can climb mountains and always get your way

age and wisdom comes along and tells you that just is not the case
elaborate plans and churning minds make life a hectic race

that picture you had is stuck away amid the pages of a book
with all your old should have beens and the wishing stars you took

bring it out from days gone by and look at where you've been
are you happy with the you you are when you look within

colors shift and change and rearrange according to your seasons
pack away your dreams and hopes, oh no there is no reason

rather age appreciates textures, beauty and taste
make new pictures of your life, reach out and do not waste

HIS LITTLE GIRL

WHERE DID HIS LITTLE GIRL GO
THE ONE WITH THE CURLS AND FRILLY BOW

SHE SPENT TOO MANY DAYS WITH TEARS IN HER EYES
TOO MANY NIGHTS LISTENING TO LIES

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LITTLE GIRL HE BOUNCED ON HIS KNEE
THE ONE WHO WOULD SHOUT AND GIGGLE WITH GLEE

SHE LEARNED ON HER OWN, SHE WAS QUICK TO ATTEND
THAT ONCE A HEART BROKEN, WAS DIFFICULT TO MEND

WHERE IS THAT LITTLE GIRL WHO SMELLED OF CHOCOLATE AND HUGS
WHO WOULD SNUGGLE DOWN BENEATH THE COVERS AND RUGS

SHE LEARNED YOU WERE DYING AND COULDN’T QUITE COPE
SHE GREW UP AND TOOK CARE OF YOU, GAVE UP HER HOPE

WHERE IS THAT LITTLE GIRL WITH THE HULA HOOP
SHE DANCED AND SHE SANG WITH THE REST OF THE TROUPE

SHE REALIZED THE SPOTLIGHT WASN’T HERS FOREVER
SHE HAD IT A SMALL TIME, BETTER THAN NEVER

WHERE IS THAT LITTLE GIRL WHO HAD STORIES TO TELL
SHE HELD YOU ENRAPTURED WHILE SPINNING HER SPELL

SHE PACKED UP HER DREAMS, HER PEN AND HER PAPER
HER IMAGINATION SHE LET DWINDLE AND TAPER

WHY DID HIS LITTLE GIRL WANDER AWAY
SHE HAD TO BECOME THE WOMAN SHE IS TODAY

I wonder, can you hear the breaking of a heart
Can you see tears if they spill in the dark

How long does it take,
till you sleep in the middle of the bed

How many times,
do you go over what it was that was said

Do you search his eyes,
for what it was that made you fall

Did you imagine it,
was it ever really there at all

How long does it take,
days, weeks, a year

How many sleepless nights,
till you wake without fear

You do what you must,
Move on without fuss

Wondering how long it will take
Till the next time your heart breaks
