emyrldlady: (A faire day)

Ok, yesterday's workout sucked. I only did a little over 1/2 mile on the treadmill and 1 mile on the bike. The reason for that was my knees were really really swollen and it was painful. I don't know all the weight machines but I fiddled around with the lats and abs ones and learned how to use them. I have to remember that just because I can do it one day doesn't mean I can do it again the next day. Not until I can get an ortho to look at my knees and the swelling to see what the problem is. I've ignored my health for years, a month of doing the right thing isn't going to make it all go away. Back to the gym tomorrow. Today is about cleaning, laundry and chores. I went food shopping and for the 2nd week in a row bought no frozen or over processed foods. Salads, fish and pork. I still have to get the hang of healthy side dishes. For the record weigh in was 192. Total of 8.6lbs. It will fluctuate but for now it's going in the right direction. Thanks for listening (reading). ‪

Frozen fruit and veg (and tinned) are as good as fresh foods - and I use frozen berries because they are cheaper than fresh ones

I have to watch the sugar content. It sucks because I really want to do some smoothies. I'm trying to find the right blend that isn't high in sugar.

oh, that is tough... I hope you find something that works - can you mix it with something like yoghurt?

getting the knees looked at sounds very wise.

I've also heard alot of good things about walking, which is my go to exercise right now, and particularly for knees - water walking. lets you do the work with less pain and pounding on the joints.

Unfortunately I couldn't afford the gym with the pool. I'm powering through as best I can and if I hurt then I dial it down. I'm starting to switch my time out and doing some weights or leg lifts. My routine at the moment is 15 min on treadmill, 15 on stationary bike and 15 with weights. I'm going to add the stair climber... once I figure out how it works and once I can consistently do 45 min at a time. Baby steps.

Damn, sorry about that, but you know, that happens. There are some mornings that it is just hard as hell to do that workout. Definitely getting your knees looked at is a good thing.

Frozen fruits & veggies are okay (i don't really care for frozen veggies but we use frozen fruits all the time) oftentimes they actually have MORE nutritional value then the fresh because you never know how long the fresh has been sitting on the shelf or in the truck. (Or so I've been told...I still buy them obviously because I don't have time to track down a farmer's market) ANYHOO - GO YOU!!! *\0/* you're doing GREAT <33333

Thanks, the Farmers Market in town will be closing up as it's winter (if there's snow it's winter). I am learning different veggies. The fruits unfortunately have too much sugar, even natural sugar can be bad.
